(Senior) Electronics Engineer (m/f/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Ulm

Your mission
We're pioneering real-time metabolic imaging through MRI that transforms how cancer is treated. We've built a dynamic and interdisciplinary team that has made key innovations in quantum physics, organic chemistry and engineering.
Join our mission as (Senior) Electronics Engineer (m/f/d) and own the development of electronic subsystems from concept to production. You specify, design, prototype and characterize custom circuits and modules and follow the design through to production in close collaboration with our product development partners.

Concept and system-level architecture:
  • You are the expert for electronic subsystems in the development of our prototypes and products and drive the specification of those modules
  • You create ideas and concepts for custom analog and mixed-signal PCBs such as power amplifiers, transceivers and NMR probes including signal conversion and define the interface to PLC-based machines
  • You collaborate with our product development partner and provide technical expertise for electronic topics throughout the product design process.
Design:
  • You design and layout custom PCBs in Altium Designer and perform circuit simulations where needed
  • You simulate coils and magnets in COMSOL Multiphysics and embed them into electronic subsystems, e.g. coil assemblies for NMR coils or electromagnetic field generation
Prototyping and testing:
  • You create manufacturing and assembly documents and coordinate the prototype manufacturing with our engineering team and external suppliers
  • You extensively test your electronic designs and support system integration and characterization
  • You support our engineering and science teams in system testing, diagnosis and identify opportunities for improvements and novel design ideas
Your profile
  • Ph.D. / M.Sc / B.Sc in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5 years professional experience in a research environment or early-stage product development, ideally in the field of laboratory equipment or medical devices
  • Proven expertise in design of analog front ends, signal conversion, data acquisition and system interfacing
  • Deep hands-on experience with analog and mixed-signal PCB testing, as well as system-level characterization in an electronics lab setting
  • Extensive proficiency in using Altium Designer or other PCB design tools
  • Experience with simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics is considered a plus
  • Skilled in devising creative solutions and working independently
  • Interdisciplinary mindset and passion for experimental and hands-on work
Why us?
  • Competitive compensation, based on base salary and stock options
  • Onsite work at state-of-the-art facilities with home-office opportunities
  • Key role in a highly advanced and fast-growing startup company
  • Ample opportunity for personal initiatives, openness to new ideas and room for considerable personal impact

About us

NVision is a quantum biotech startup based in Ulm, Germany, with Tier 1 investors from the USA and Europe. We are just leaving stealth mode, moving from local R&D to global commercialization and expansion.

We are developing a technology that will enable MRI-based imaging of real-time metabolism in the body, with tremendous potential for research and applications in oncology, cardiology, neurology and more. Our company brings together expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering and medicine, and we are collaborating with scientists and clinicians from top medical and research centers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, MD Anderson in Texas, Technical University of Munich, Cambridge University in the UK and more.

NVision is developing fast, robust and easy-to-use hyperpolarization technology for preclinical and clinical research in our Polaris product line. Those devices are placed close to an MRI scanner in a clinical environment or a research lab to produce hyperpolarized contrast agents on demand. The hyperpolarized solution is prepared in a fast, fully-automated, multi-step process including chemical reactions, polarization transfer and several purification steps. We develop our commercial products in close collaboration with a
product development partner, while the process development as well as the design of test setups and prototypes is done in-house.

We offer a dynamic international working environment, with immense room for growth, that encourages personal initiative and open communication.
