R&D Engineer (m/f/d)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Ulm

Your mission

We are looking for a talented R&D Engineer (m/f/d) to lead innovative fluidic system projects from concept to product development. In this role, you will combine hands-on laboratory work with design expertise to develop instrumentation to test cutting-edge prototypes. If you have a passion for fluidic system design and thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Ownership: Lead test-system projects from concept through prototyping and assembly to performing the required system tests. These systems include small volume (less than 1L) vessels, with gas and liquid connections with a high degree of automation.

  • Collaboration & Design: Work with other engineers and scientists to develop test instrument concepts based on the requirements of the device under test. Create P&IDs and instrument designs in collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers. Work with automation engineers to define automation requirements and test sequences.

  • Prototype Development & Testing: Select and source suitable components and assemble the test instruments in collaboration with other engineers. Create and execute test plans, and analyze results to assess submodule performance, operating parameters and identify areas for improvement.

  • Product Development & Technology Transfer & Support: Transfer knowledge and test results to the product development team and participate in design reviews. Review product submodule designs and advise on test protocols and instrumentation. Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.

Your profile
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a strong foundation in fluid mechanics.

  • Several years of experience in designing and building laboratory-scale fluidic systems, with a proven ability to bring systems from concept to reality.

  • Experience with Mechanical CAD, creating P&IDs, and selecting fluidic components.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex systems and subsystems.

  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer.

  • A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in fluidic system design and testing.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.

About us

NVision is a quantum biotech startup based in Ulm, Germany, with Tier 1 investors from the USA and Europe. We are just leaving stealth mode, moving from local R&D to global commercialization and expansion.

We are developing a technology that will enable MRI-based imaging of real-time metabolism in the body, with tremendous potential for research and applications in oncology, cardiology, neurology and more. Our company brings together expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering and medicine, and we are collaborating with scientists and clinicians from top medical and research centers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, MD Anderson in Texas, Technical University of Munich, Cambridge University in the UK and more.

NVision is developing fast, robust and easy-to-use hyperpolarization technology for preclinical and clinical research in our Polaris product line. Those devices are placed close to an MRI scanner in a clinical environment or a research lab to produce hyperpolarized contrast agents on demand. The hyperpolarized solution is prepared in a fast, fully-automated, multi-step process including chemical reactions, polarization transfer and several purification steps. We develop our commercial products in close collaboration with a
product development partner, while the process development as well as the design of test setups and prototypes is done in-house.

We offer a dynamic international working environment, with immense room for growth, that encourages personal initiative and open communication.
